Calling all Community Members of the Kern River Valley

Compassion Caravan

Lake Isabella’s Janet Garcia, during the October 18th Caravan for Compassion
Lake Isabella’s Janet Garcia, during the October 18 for Compassion Caravan.

Compassion Caravan (aka Caravan for Compassion) was started by a few local citizens whom heard that our local food banks were barren and that they needed desperate help. They were informed that increased numbers of families returning to the food banks have increased but the donations have not. They not only wanted to collect items to fill these food banks for their community but they also want to raise the awareness especially around the holidays. So, the 3rd Saturday of each month these citizens come together in a caravan fashion collecting donated food and items around the lake, and give it to The Food Pantry, The Salvation Army and God's Store House here in the Kern River Valley. It has been extremely successful.

Now it is time to do it again. They need your help. Please contact your churches, groups, organizations and network to make this happen. This will be an ongoing monthly project until our food banks are filled and our people are fed. We cannot sit idle and wait for someone else to help. This is our community. We have to rise up and like as Gandhi said "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
